LAUNDRY ROOM OVERHAUL

Laundry is probably most people’s least favorite task to do, so it’s important to have a space that is aesthetically pleasing! Sometimes a room can have a complete overhaul, pipes moved, new everything. But any budget can find ways to make a space more efficient and pleasant to work in.

Here is the “before” that started the creative ideas rolling. At first we didn’t know how much of the pipes would be showing so the original design created an oblique / frosted plexiglass valance in place of the groovy 60’s orange circles.

Here is what the space looks like now. The cabinets will be painted an earthy taupe. Walls will be a lighter neutral, to balance the pine paneling. Even the ceiling will be a 5th wall and be softer than white.

The gray box (washer water discharge) and new single deep sink allows more counter space.

A self storage drying rack was added around the corner of the pine closet.

There were design changes along the way, as obstacles popped up, as happens with any home improvement project. Originally the sink was on the left and countertop on the right for folding items from the dryer, but with the pipes moved and window more visible, the sink and faucet fit better under the window.

The overall changes are beautiful storage and every day use solutions!
